SRE replaces $120k bowling system with $1,600 in ESP32s
A former SRE built an open-source scoring system for his bowling center using ESP32 microcontrollers, costing $200 per lane pair versus $80-120k for commercial systems. The prototype uses ESPNow mesh networking, Redis event streaming, and React for the UI. He plans to open-source the hardware and software as OpenLaneLink to combat vendor lock-in.
