New brands invisible to AI chatbots, study of 500 queries finds
A study of 500 brand queries across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity found that brands less than one year old were cited 0% of the time. The strongest predictor of citation was a Wikipedia entry, while on-page SEO tactics like llms.txt had no effect. High-authority offsite mentions on three or more domains mattered more than any on-site optimization.
