Microsoft Azure shifts to ARM processors for greener cloud
Microsoft Azure is increasingly adopting ARM-based processors like Ampere Altra for cloud workloads, citing up to 2.5x better performance per watt and 50% less energy consumption compared to x86. The move targets modern applications such as microservices, containers, and serverless functions. Azure offers ARM-based VM series Dpsv5 and Dplsv5 for these workloads.
