AWS Lambda MicroVMs Bring Persistent State to Serverless Computing
AWS announced Lambda MicroVMs on June 22, 2026, combining fast startup, strong isolation, and persistent state for serverless workloads. Built on Firecracker, each MicroVM gives users their own kernel, memory, and disk, solving the trade-off between speed, isolation, and state. The feature targets AI code assistants and other apps needing real-time, secure, stateful execution.
