GPU Power Fluctuations Could Destabilize Grids, Researchers Warn

Researchers from Zhejiang University describe Bit2Watt, an attack where cloud tenants manipulate GPU usage to cause rapid power draw fluctuations in data centers. These fluctuations could destabilize local power grids without requiring any exploit or system breach. The findings were presented at the CHES 2026 hardware-security conference.
