Google's Open Knowledge Format aims to standardize AI context
On June 12, 2026, Google Cloud released the Open Knowledge Format (OKF), an open spec for providing AI agents with structured context. OKF uses Markdown files with YAML frontmatter to represent knowledge as portable, linkable documents. Google also released reference implementations including an enrichment agent and a static HTML visualizer.

OKF's simplicity is both its strength and weakness—adoption will depend on whether Google can convince the ecosystem to standardize around yet another format.
