Fake 7-Zip Installers Enlist PCs in Proxy Network

A threat actor called Lurking Lizard has used over 230 lookalike domains since 2022 to distribute fake 7-Zip installers. The malware turns infected devices into residential proxy nodes, enabling anonymous traffic routing. Infoblox researchers uncovered the campaign, which is still active.
