Claude AI Breaks Post-Quantum Scheme, Speeds Up AES Attack
Anthropic's Claude Mythos Preview derived a key-recovery attack against HAWK-256, exploiting a previously unused lattice symmetry. It also achieved a 200- to 800-fold speedup for an attack on seven-round AES-128. The HAWK attack runs in about 3 hours 42 minutes on a 96-core server.

The HAWK break is a reminder that post-quantum cryptography is still maturing, but the AES speedup is more of a theoretical milestone than a practical threat.
