Amazon Files for 5,105-Satellite Direct-to-Phone Network by 2028
Amazon has applied to the FCC for a new low-Earth orbit satellite constellation of 5,105 spacecraft to provide direct-to-device voice, messaging, data, and emergency services. The company plans to launch the network in 2028 and partner with mobile network operators. This follows similar efforts by SpaceX and AST SpaceMobile to bypass traditional cell towers.
