SQLite's STRICT tables enforce data types, ending silent bugs
SQLite 3.37.0 introduced STRICT tables that enforce declared column types, preventing insertion of mismatched data like text into integer columns. Developer Evan Hahn argues they should be the default, as flexible typing can hide bugs. Existing tables cannot be altered to STRICT; they must be recreated.
