Solidus Anchors Proofs, Not Data, to Avoid Blockchain Bloat
Solidus stores only issuer public keys, revocation references, and DID document roots on-chain, keeping personal data in user-controlled pods. This architecture addresses Tim Berners-Lee's 2015 critique that blockchains are too slow, expensive, and public for identity. Verification uses off-chain Verifiable Credentials signed by on-chain public keys, enabling privacy-preserving identity checks.

Solidus's approach is a pragmatic middle ground that avoids the pitfalls of on-chain data storage, but its success hinges on user adoption of pod management and interoperability with existing identity standards.
