Snowflake Adds Ontology Layer to Make AI Understand Business Data
Snowflake's chief AI architect Taja presented a five-layer ontology architecture at Snowflake Summit 2026 that bridges the gap between raw database tables and AI reasoning. The approach separates ontology (blueprint) from knowledge graph (instances) and uses declarative metadata to generate polymorphic views. This enables AI agents to query business concepts like "people working at a company" without complex SQL joins.
