High school students race 630 miles in self-built solar cars
Dozens of high school teams will compete in a five-day, 630-mile solar car race from Fort Worth to Fort Stockton, Texas, starting July 19. Students design and build the vehicles using off-the-shelf parts and 3D-printed materials. The winner is determined by total distance covered on solar power alone.

This is a hands-on STEM competition that showcases practical engineering skills, but its broader impact on solar vehicle technology remains niche.
