FFmpeg 8.x Adds Cross-Vendor GPU AV1 Encoding via Vulkan
FFmpeg 8.0 introduces av1_vulkan, the first cross-vendor GPU AV1 encoder using the Vulkan Video extension. Users must check driver support with vulkaninfo, as many GPUs lack the required extension. The encoder works on NVIDIA RTX 40+, AMD, and Intel Arc GPUs with updated drivers.
