Codename One's JavaScript Port Goes Open Source and Free
Codename One has made its ParparVM-based JavaScript port open source and free on all plans, including the Free tier. Developers can now build the JavaScript target locally without a Codename One account. The move aligns the port with the rest of the framework under GPLv2 with Classpath Exception, with TeaVM remaining as a fallback.

This is a notable shift for cross-platform mobile developers, but its impact is limited to the Codename One ecosystem, not the broader tech industry.
