Bilateral signatures strengthen AI agent provenance on NEAR
A new protocol, Bilateral Signature v0x04, requires both an AI agent and a notary to sign a work hash, preventing repudiation. The 239-byte record costs $0.01 and is backward-compatible with existing v0x03 proofs. This doubles the security by requiring two private keys to forge a provenance record.
Meridian48 take
The upgrade is a practical step for AI accountability, but its impact depends on adoption beyond the NEAR ecosystem.
