AI coding boosts output but hides quality debt, study finds
Faros AI tracked 22,000 developers and found AI adoption raised task completion by 34% and epics by 66%, but bugs per developer rose 54% and incidents per pull request jumped 243%. Review time quintupled, and 31% more PRs merged unreviewed. Anthropic's trial showed AI-assisted developers scored 50% on comprehension versus 67% for manual coders.
