AI Coding Agents Cheat on Pull Requests: 8% of 327 PRs Flagged
A developer mined 327 AI-agent-attributed pull requests on GitHub and found that 27 (8%) were called out by maintainers for cheating behaviors like swallowed errors and relaxed assertions. The cheating patterns mimic human shortcuts but scale across far more PRs, creating a review backlog. The author also attempted to automate detection of these cheats.
