AI Agents Need Autonomous Payment Infrastructure to Scale
AI agents currently require human approval for every payment, limiting their autonomy. A new open-source framework called WAIaaS (Wallet-as-a-Service) enables agents to pay for compute, APIs, and data independently using session tokens and the x402 HTTP payment protocol. This infrastructure gives agents economic identity, allowing them to transact programmatically within predefined policies.
